Marshall is a historical movie about former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. The movie depicts an early trial in Marshall’s career in which he defends an African-American chauffeur against charges of sexual assault brought by his wealthy white employer. As part of the American Bar Association’s participation as a co-sponsor of Marshall, the ABA will be inviting members to “like or comment on” the ABA’s Marshall posting on ABA Instagram.
To promote participation on ABA Instagram, the ABA will give away two tickets — one for an ABA member and one for his/her guest — to attend the red carpet opening of Marshall on September 23, 2017, in New York City. The prize includes round-trip airfare to the event and one night of lodging, not to exceed $1800. The prize will be awarded through a random drawing. There is no charge to enter this promotion. The following official rules apply to all entrants.
Who May Enter
This promotion is open to all ABA members. Employees of the ABA and its affiliates, and their immediate family or household members, are ineligible to enter or win. Entrants must be legal residents of the United States and over the age of 18. Promotion is valid in the United States.
Entry Requirements and Deadline
Entrants must comment on an ABA’s Marshall posting on ABA Instagram by providing the name of their favorite U.S. Supreme Court Justice between August 16, 2017, and August 22, 2017. Entrants may comment on the posting each day.
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS PROMOTION.
Determination of Winner and Notification
The ABA will choose one winner through a random drawing to be held at 4:00 p.m. Central Time on August 23, 2017. ABA will notify the winner by e-mail no later than 10 p.m. Central Time on August 23, 2017. ABA will post the name of the winner on ABA Facebook no later than August 30, 2017. If the winner does not reply to the notification email by noon Central Time on August 25, 2017, such potential winner forfeits all rights to win the promotion or receive the prize and the ABA will conduct a second random drawing to identify a new winner.
The winner may be required to sign additional documents related to participation in the promotion before the prize will be awarded. By accepting the prize, the winner consents to the use of his/her name, voice and likeness, and all accompanying personally identifiable information the winner submits, via all forms of media now known or hereafter devised worldwide, in perpetuity, without notice, attribution, or compensation (other than the prize won) to the winner, his successors, or assigns, or any other entity, except where prohibited by law.
Prize Value and Payment of Taxes
The winner will receive two tickets to the red carpet opening of Marshall on September 23, 2017, in New York City, airfare for two to the event, and one night of lodging, cost of prize not to exceed $1,800. The prize is nontransferable. The ABA reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
Cash equivalency for the prize is not available. The winner is solely responsible for payment of any taxes that may be owed in connection with winning this prize. The ABA will issue a 1099 tax form to the winner for the value of the prize awarded.
Odds of Winning
One prize will be awarded. The odds of winning the prize will depend on the total number of entries with accompanying contact information that are submitted.
